Top, and it works
The steel door is sturdy and keeps the weasels and Fischer cats from killing my chickens in the night. I live in the Pacific northwest where is rains constantly and that does not bother the door. Unfortunately, six months or so after purchase the door quit working. I contacted the company to inquire about the warranty. They were so quick to respond! Within hours and during the weekend, they corresponded, offering a replacement part (light sensor) that thought may be the problem after walking through some troubleshooting with me. OR send me the upgraded motor box, T50, for a discounted price. Usually I don't like being upsold but after some thought and researching the upgraded gear/motor box, I decided to go with that. For around $40 I got the upgrade which fits perfectly on the door I already had so I didn't have to replace the entire door. Batteries in, only four screws, and done. The new model is already programmed for open at sunrise and close and sunset. Gotta love those plug and play options on a busy farm with lots of work to do. If you're deciding between the T40 and T50, the 50 seems like a better electrical design and I would certainly call it an upgrade. Love this chicken door and so appreciate good customer service in this day and age where you just don't see it much anymore.
Love this door. Super easy to install and works everyday. I’ve had it for 3 months now.
Easy to install. Sturdy & reliable.
I set it up to work in conjunction with an existing door. That took a bit of creativity, but it all turned out and works great.
Really well made, really easy to use. It flexes a bit, so you can’t screw it down tight to a uneven surface or the door will bind. You need to replace the batteries even though it comes with them. It’s really simple to use, it just opens and closes without really having to set anything
Easy to install, haven’t lost a egg since putting door in to critters.
Was super easy to install. Retrofitted to my old coop door. Worked the first full day without issues. Feels very solid and I have no doubt it will last a long time. Friends have purchased the cheap knock-offs from sites outside of the US and they failed almost immediately. I will update this review after it's been a few months.
This product was a little pricey compared to others but it works well. It closes every night about an hour after sunset and opens up in the morning after sun rise. It has saved me from having to walk out to the coop and let the girls out first thing in the morning and I’m looking forward to vacation. My husband installed it in about 15 minutes and it’s pretty easy to use and set. I have it under cover so I can’t speak to weather durability. Overall I really like it and that justifies the price.
super easy to install, no hassle with power to the chicken coop that is far away from our house. No programming needed to set the time…installed and it’s ready to go. Haven’t loss a chicken to predators since!
If you are doing plasma cutting and grinding...This is for you!!!Very satisfied!!!
This Chicken Door is the one to order and install. The aluminum frame and door are far superior to the plastic one. Once I got the timing/timer down, everything was well.
This product has worked so far. We have had this for three months. Will update with changes. I was a little concerned when we were testing it out and we noticed it was not latching on to the last hook and was making a clank noise. But we just stuck a thin cardboard piece in it and that fixed that weird issue. Once it was put on the coop though no issues and we took that thin cardboard cereal box piece out. Everything seems good. Very please with this product so far!
We will see with the known time it works well.
This product was easy to install. We had a little trouble with the adjustments and when I contacted customer service to let them know, they were very responsive. I even let them know we got it to work properly, but they insisted on sending out a new controller just to be safe. We have it connected to a solar battery and it works perfectly. My chickens are happy to be out of the coop before I'm out the door in the morning and I'm happy I can go to bed before they do in the summers. Definitely recommend.
After losing a few few of my favorites to a raccoon, I decided enough was enough. I had another locking door but it wasn’t automatic. This door is very simple and seems reliable. I had some problems at first because it had jumped its alignment during shipping. The seller got back to me through email very quickly and gave me instructions on how to re-seat it. It seems a little pricey for what it is, but I do appreciate its simplicity and so far it’s been very reliable. One thing I’m disappointed in is that I am unable to attach a WiFi sensor to send me a text message when it opens and closes. It’s too tight in the design to find a spot. I’d recommend to the manufacturer to add a tab to the top corner of the door plate. The tab would make mounting a simple contact sensor possible. Overall, I’m very happy with it. I was frustrated with the programming feature at first, but when I actually read the instructions more thoroughly it worked the first time. One more push of the button was all it took! I will probably buy another one to go between the concrete-lined small run and the big dirt play ground. Again they are a little pricey, but the avoiding the guilt and trauma of another 2:30am raccoon raid seems worth it.
The door opens and closes as advertised and at least for the winter light conditions works fine with the nice delay feature. I do find that in inclement conditions it can close if light levels fall even during the day, leaving your chickens stranded. It also has a problem in winter freezing shut or open so you will have to monitor it when it gets cold and wet. It has a test function that allows you open it manually if closed but if the door is open the test function will close it then open it immediately. No easy way to just close the door if you are cleaning or want the chickens out for awhile. Overall a good product but I wonder if others, maybe even less expensive, might not have the flaws that fool with peace of mind.
UPDATE ... My door had a flaw in the light sensor and they sent me a new one immediately. Fixed my problem with only a few minutes of effort. They offered great suggestions on nearly all of my problems noted above and have been great with customer service. They answer emails within a couple hours and are always helpful. I have never experienced customer service and a company so willing to do anything to make you happy, going above and beyond. The door works great and gives so much peace of mind that you rest knowing it opened and closed as specified and keeps your chickens safe at night.
I would not hesitate to buy from them again as their product is great and service outstanding. My highest recommendation...
